Mermaid Guestroom

My husband Eric and I threw this guest bedroom together in three days. Yes, I said three days! He built a wall, a closet, added moulding and doors. Then I painted, shopped and decorated.
Done!

I found these mermaid prints on the island of Kauai last summer at one of my favorite shops named "Sand People" I had them shipped home and have been waiting not so patiently to hang them in the perfect spot!

The furniture and accessories are pieces I have been saving for years. I am so happy to finally use them. The only new things I bought for this room were sheets and window panels that flow in the breeze when I open the windows!

The best thing is...

you can hear the trickling fountain
through the open window.

A Place

Just a place to be,
pretty as a picture,
he built it just for me,
just a place to be.

Peaceful Colors

This is one of my favorite little churches. Lihue Lutheran Church was originally built in 1885 and has been rebuilt twice, once in 1982 from hurricane Iwa and again in 1992 a result of hurricane Iniki. It is a historical beauty.

I love this little Lihue Lutheran Church on top of the hill. We love to stop here and leisurely stroll the grounds. The paint colors are so beautiful, the exterior is a yellowy gold with creamy white trim and the interior is a beautiful Robin's egg blue with bright white wood work. I must search for more photos. Worth a stop if you visit Kauai. This is from our 2006 Kauai trip. It is so peaceful here......................

Beach House Redo

Transitions just finished a remodel & design installation on a darling little beach cottage here in Olympia WA. We based our design around our clients love of the ocean, her sea shell & glass collections, her existing sofa and budget. Her sofa is aqua blue leather & contemporary in style so we added a few custom pillows to add texture and give it the "cozy factor" she was looking for.
We also warmed up the rooms with new paint colors; main walls (Devine-Grain), trim and brick fireplace(Ralph Lauren-Tennis Court White), accent wall & kitchen walls (Devine-Almond). We used natural roman shades throughout the home just to add more texture. Then we topped them with Crisp white cotton window panels and decorative rods. Our client was happy to say good by to her old wall-to-wall grey carpeting and vinyl, so we chose a Virginia Walnut Laminate floor for easy upkeep. I would say it was a success:) It is always a thrill to watch our client's reaction at the reveal!
